Who We Are

LYKES BROS. INC.

Founded by Dr. Howell Tyson Lykes and sons in 1900 and then incorporated in 1910, our parent company, Lykes Bros. Inc., has a solid heritage and strong history upon which to stand. In the 1870s, Dr. Lykes gave up the practice of medicine to take over his family’s 500-acre farm in rural Hernando County, Florida where he engaged in citrus growing and cattle ranching, including the export of cattle to Cuba. Dr. Lykes moved his family to Tampa in 1895 to focus on the cattle trade and launch his seven sons into the business world. In 1900 the older boys opened an office in Havana, Cuba, doing business as Lykes Brothers.  All of the brothers eventually joined the family operations and still after 100 years, Lykes Bros. Inc. remains family owned and operated. Lykes presently has diversified operations in agriculture, citrus, ranching, insurance, land management and now sustainability consulting. Lykes has major land holdings in Florida and Texas and is one of the largest private landowners in the United States.

Formed in 2008, ECO₂ASSET SOLUTIONS is a wholly–owned subsidiary of Lykes Bros. Inc., specializing in sustainability advising, analysis and management for the public and private sector.  Greener supply chains, increasing restrictions on greenhouse gases, and the need for greater energy efficiency and less environmental impact from all organizations drive our specialized focus. We seek responsible and practical solutions for our clients, increasing efficiencies and returns by delivering sustainability management as an outsourced solution.
